Leahy family celebrates holidays with Celtic-inspired music and dance, Dec. 11
Enjoy holiday music and dance family-style when the Performing Arts Series presentation “A Leahy Family Christmas” comes to town on Sunday, Dec. 11, at 2:30 p.m. in the Auditorium in Roberts Hall.
Leahy is a Canadian powerhouse family of eight musical brothers and sisters – instrumentalists, singers and dancers – who will perform their Christmas favorites along with an exciting and unique mix of traditional Celtic songs and original seasonal pieces.
The siblings’ authentic and passionate sound has made them one of Canada’s most in-demand exports. The family brings skilled musicianship and a varied repertoire to every performance, including works that the family writes, arranges, and produces.
Among the many awards the family has won are Junos for Best New Group, Best Country Group and Best Instrumental Group, and the Socan award for Folk/Jazz Instrumentalist.
Leahy’s acclaimed recordings have sold over half a million copies worldwide. The family’s self-titled album hit number four on the Billboard world music charts and music by the group was heard on the soundtrack of the award-winning film “The Hanging Garden.”
Tickets for “A Leahy Family Christmas” are $35. Discounts are available for seniors, children and RIC faculty/staff/students/alumni.
