Robert Franzblau, RIC professor and director of bands, and Brian Cardany, associate director of bands at the University of Rhode Island, will conduct.
The program includes Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Serenade in C-Minor, Ludwig von Beethoven’s Octet, Op. 103, Edvard Grieg’s “Wedding Day at Troldhaugen” and Franz Krommer’s Serenade in B-Flat.
“Professional wind players often do not have the opportunity to play this magnificent chamber repertoire as symphony orchestras usually program large-scale works for full orchestra,” said Franzblau.
RIC faculty performing with the Rhode Island Wind Orchestra include Ian Greitzer on clarinet, Denise Plaza-Martin on oboe, Susan Wood on bassoon and Sheffra Spiridopoulous on horn. Other members of the orchestra include Dino Ferro on clarinet, Sarah Young on oboe, Michael Mechanic on bassoon and Elizabeth Gates on horn.
General Admission to this event is free. For more information, contact Robert Franzblau at rfranzblau@ric.edu or (401) 456-9514.
