RIC alums’ film to be shown at SENE festival, April 15

RIC grads Michael ’80 and Karen ’81 Iacobbo will have their first film, “The Unproductive,” screened at the SENE Film, Music & Arts Festival on Sunday, April 15, at the Cable Car Cinema & Café in Providence. It will be shown during the noon-2p.m. time slot scheduled for local films.

The film was accepted into the SENE festival based upon audience vote at a recent public screening held in Providence at Rhodywood, also known as Brooklyn Coffee & Tea House.

Karen, a journalist, author, and award-winning short story writer, wrote "The Unproductive" screenplay and directed and produced the film. Her husband, Michael, who was a reporter for The Associated Press, contributed to the script, and was a producer and the production manager on the film.

It is the first film from Providence Lyceum LLC, a communication company established in 2010 by the couple.

"The Unproductive" is, according to http://providencelyceum.com, a “provocative look at effects of the euthanasia debate on a relationship: how it can divide and devastate, as well as create a sense of helplessness at having to make a life or death decision.”

The film, which is 22 minutes long, was shot in Rhode Island.
