RIC choral program to present celebratory send-off concert, May 4
RIC choral groups will present the “Bon Voyage” concert on Friday, May 4, at 8 p.m. in the Nazarian Center’s Sapinsley Hall.
The concert, which will be performed by the RIC Chorus, Chamber Singers and Women’s and Men’s Choruses, is a celebration for the graduating choristers and the final public performance before choral students leave for their tour of Ireland on May 20.
A majority of the music in the performance is by American composers and arrangers and encompasses a wide variety of styles, from “art” music to vocal jazz and pop.
“This is a somewhat lighter, uplifting concert after a very busy academic year – from a very successful performance of the Brahms “Ein deutsches Requiem” with the New Bedford Symphony Orchestra in October to singing with the Vox Lumiere’s presentation of “Metropolis” in April – for all of the RIC choral ensembles,” said Professor Teresa Coffman, RIC choral director and applied voice instructor.
Coffman and Nicholas Laroche will conduct the performance.
General admission is $10. Free admission for RIC students, faculty and staff. Non-RIC students and seniors, $5. For tickets or information, call the box office at (401) 456-8144.
