Dorsey Wins N.E. Title; Amada, Others Earn All-New England Honors in Weekend Meets

Freshman Jaimee Dorsey (East Greenwich, RI) was the New England Champion in the 400m as Rhode Island College placed fifth (26 teams) at the 2013 New England Div. III Women’s Indoor Track & Field Championships, hosted by Southern Maine on Saturday afternoon.

Dorsey took first in the 400m with a time of 57.87. She also earned All-New England honors in the 200m with a third-place finish and program-record time of 25.88.

Dorsey joined freshman Autumn Wosencroft (Newport, RI), sophomore Daria Braboy (Providence, RI) and junior Natasha Miller (Wakefield, RI) to earn All-N.E. honors in the 4x200m relay (2nd; 1:45.66). The quartet also placed fourth in the 4x400m relay (4:00.10).

Braboy earned All-New England honors in both the triple jump (4th; 10.91m) and the 400m (4th; 59.26). She also placed 11th in the 200m (26.78).

Wosencroft earned All-New England honors in the 200m (5th; 29.36), while also placing eighth in the 400m (59.67) and 11th in the long jump (4.98m).

Also this weekend, junior Craig Amado (Providence, RI) earned All-New England honors in the triple jump with a third place finish (13.82m) as Rhode Island College placed 19th (22 teams) at the 2013 New England Div. III Men’s Indoor Championships, hosted by Bates on Saturday afternoon.

The Anchormen totaled a score of 13.0. MIT won the championship with a score of 118.50.

Amado also placed 12th in the long jump (6.25m) and joined seniors Shawn Stadnick (Wakefield, RI), Austin Pena (Warwick, RI) and Conor McCloskey (Wakefield, RI) for a seventh place effort in the distance medley relay (10:29.37).

Sophomore Jarell Forbes (Providence, RI) earned All-New England honors in the heptathlon, by placing fourth with a score of 4499. He also placed 13th in the 60m hurdles (8.70) and joined freshman Jarell James (Providence, RI), sophomore Aleno Gomes (Providence, RI) and freshman Joel Ikuejamofo (Providence, RI) for a ninth place finish in the 4x400m relay (3:28.08).

Stadnick placed 15th in the 800m (2:00.23), while McCloskey took ninth in the mile (4:20.12). Freshman Edward Cummins (Lincoln, RI) placed 12th in the weight throw (14.41m).

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College’s men’s and women’s indoor track team will compete at the 2013 N.E. Open Championships, hosted by Boston University on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 22-23.
