RIC’s Anchorwomen Finish Third at Southern Conn. Meet
NEW HAVEN, CONN. – The Rhode Island College women's gymnastics team finished third at a tri-meet hosted by Div. II Southern Connecticut on Sunday afternoon in Moore Field House.
The Anchorwomen compiled a team score of 171.650. The Owls won with a score of 188.700, while ECAC Div. III rival Springfield placed second with a score of 184.525.
Sophomore Cory Bridges (Foxboro, MA) led the team with a fourth-place finish in the all-around (34.100), while finishing eighth on vault (9.225). Bridges also recorded scores of 7.600 on bars, 8.450 on beam and an 8.825 on floor.
Sophomore Jessica Mushinsky (Shrewsbury, MA) placed fifth in the all-around (34.000) and led the squad with a ninth-place effort on floor (9.200). Mushinsky also posted scores of 8.800 on vault, 7.850 on bars and 8.150 on beam.
Sophomore Mary Ocel (North Attleboro, MA) led the team on bars with a score of 8.800, which was good for 11th place.
Junior Courtney Saucier (Coventry, RI) recorded the Anchorwomen's best score on beam (9.050) and placed ninth. Junior Caitlin Elliott (Marlton, NJ) scored a 9.175 on floor.
In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will compete at a quad-meet hosted by West Chester University on Saturday, March 2 (6 p.m.).
