Ford Captures Medalist Honors as Anchormen Win Rich Korzec Invitational

Junior Patrick Ford (Halifax, Mass.) earned medalist honors to lead the Rhode Island College men’s golf team to first place finish at the 2014 Rich Korzec Memorial Invitational on Tuesday morning at the Blackstone National Golf Course.

The Anchormen finished first out of 10 teams and won their second tournament of the spring after firing a team score of 152 on the front nine. The event was shortened to just nine holes due to inclement weather. 

Ford fired a 36, while senior Tim Leigh (Seekonk, Mass.) finished in second behind Ford with a score of 37. Junior Ryan Butler (Windham, N.H.) finished in a tie for fourth (39), while sophomore Jonathan Cooper (Berkley, Mass.) finished in a tie for ninth (40).

Sophomore Peter Camerlengo (Pembroke, Mass.) and freshman John Roderick (Hope, R.I.) each finished in a tie for 20th (42). Sophomore Eddie Francis (Burlington, Mass.) finished in a tie for 33rd (44), while freshman Jonathan Ducharme (Marshfield, Mass.) finished in a tie for 37th (45).

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will compete in the 2014 Johnson & Wales Tournament on Friday, April 18 (10 a.m.).
