Office of News and Public Relations

The Office of News and Public Relations is a combination news bureau, media relations office, advertising agency and public relations firm.

The department is responsible for all the news, comments and commentary, advertising and promotional materials, and media interaction for the college.

Its primary mission is to promote the image  of the college by gathering information about the work of our faculty, staff, students, programs, services and events in an effort to supply the media with news and informational stories about the college.

The department is also responsible for the publication of What's News at Rhode Island College, an online newspaper that covers up-to-the minute college news, photo galleries and videos. What's News can be viewed by visiting the RIC homepage at www.ric.edu and clicking on the What's News icon.  Story ideas are always welcome by submitting them to whatsnews@ric.edu, or by contacting Rob Martin, managing editor of What’s News, at (401) 456-4679; rmartin@ric.edu.

The department also handles internal and external communications and publicity for the college. The RIC BRIEFS, and online campus newsletter, is published twice weekly to inform the campus community of current events.  Submissions to the BRIEFS can be made by emailing onpr@ric.edu.

The department director is also the official spokesperson for the college and acts as the media liaison for all departments and members of the campus community.
