Admission Requirements
Fall Enrollment
Students who anticipate enrolling in the beginning nursing courses, NURS 220 and
NURS 222, in the fall semester, MUST:
- Submit a completed Application for Enrollment Form to the School of Nursing
by April 15th of the preceding academic year.
- Be admitted to Rhode Island College.
- Be a declared nursing major
- Have met the College Mathematics Competency and Writing Requirements. (Refer
to the RIC catalog for related information.)
- Have a cumulative G.P.A. of 2.7.
- Have completed the pre-requisite courses of Anatomy (BIOL 231), General,
Organic & Biological Chemistry II (CHEM 106) and Human Development
(PSYC 230) with a grade of C or better.
Spring Enrollment
Students who anticipate enrolling in the beginning nursing courses, NURS 220 and N222 in the
spring semester, MUST:
- Submit a completed Application for Enrollment Form to the School of Nursing
by October 15th of the preceding academic year.
- Be admitted to Rhode Island College.
- Be a declared nursing major.
- Have met the College Mathematics Competency and Writing Requirements.

- Have a cumulative G.P.A. of 2.7.
- Have completed the pre-requisite courses of Anatomy (BIOL 231), General,
Organic & Biological Chemistry II (CHEM 106) and Human Development (PSYC 230)
with a grade of C or better.
Students who defer enrollment in nursing courses must submit a new Enrollment
Form upon return. Students who are denied admission to the nursing program are
allowed to reapply only one additional time. Reapplication must be made within
two years of the original application. Exceptions will be considered on an
individual basis. Students who meet admission requirements but who cannot be
accommodated will need to submit a new application for enrollment in a
subsequent semester. The School of Nursing may require student interviews.
