Fall Application
Students who anticipate enrolling in the beginning nursing courses, NURS 220 and
NURS 222 for the fall semester need to submit a completed Application to Nursing
Program: Enrollment Form by April 15th of the preceding spring semester.
Spring Application
Students who anticipate enrolling in the beginning nursing courses, NURS 220 and
NURS 222 for the spring semester need to submit a completed Application to the
Nursing Program: Enrollment Form by October 15th of the preceding fall semester.
Admission Requirements for Application
- Students must be admitted to Rhode Island College and be a declared Nursing Major.
- Completion of the Rhode Island College Math Competency & Writing Requirement. *
- Completion of BIOL 231 (Human Anatomy) with a minimum grade of C.
- Completion of PSYC 230 (Human Development) with a minimum grade of C.
- Completion of CHEM 106 (General, Organic & Biological Chemistry II) with
a minimum grade of C.
- A minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.50.

Application Process
- Complete the Application to Nursing Program: Enrollment Form. Applications
can be obtained in the School of Nursing, FLS 145.
- Basic students should attach a student copy of their current RIC transcript.
- Transfer students must attach transcripts with grades for all courses taken
elsewhere - an official or legible student copy is acceptable.
- Second Degree Candidates must attach a copy of their Signed Plan of Study.
- Make an appointment to meet with your faculty advisor in the School of Nursing
and obtain his or her signature with date of application prior to submitting the
application to the School of Nursing.
- Submit the signed and completed application with attached transcripts, or
learning plan for second degree candidates, to the administrative secretary, Carol
Peck prior to the April 15th or October 15th deadline for applications.
- Priority for Fall Acceptance will be given to students who meet admission
requirements by the end of the Spring semester. Students completing requirements
during summer sessions will be reviewed in the latter part of August and if accepted,
enrolled in NURS 220 and NURS 222 on a SEAT AVAILABLE BASIS during the late registration
period.
- Transfer students or second degree candidates admitted to Rhode Island College
after the School of Nursing's application deadline of April 15th or October 15th
may submit an application with attached transcripts or learning plan. In the
absence of an assigned nursing advisor, applicants need to obtain the signature
of the Dean of Nursing on the enrollment form. Consideration for enrollment of
qualified applicants in the beginning nursing courses N220 and N222 will be based
on availability of seats.
