Once Upon A Time...

Through the Once Upon A Time... program, Rhode Island College teacher candidate volunteers conduct theme-based story hours, one day, one hour per week in an early learning facility in or near their hometown.

Known as "Story Time Friends" our volunteers help preschoolers along their journey to becoming life long readers. By selecting classic stories and modern favorites from local libraries and planning an engaging follow-up activity, Friends are creating literacy experiences that the children are sure to enjoy.

Planning the story sessions is easy with Once Upon A Time's... helpful handbook, 50 theme-based activity books, and TeacherTalk website with over 200 lesson plans, crafts, activities and games.
