Manage Protocols

Welcome to the CHPR electronic protocol management front page! Inside you will find a link to the secure management system where you may submit protocols as well as review existing protocol statuses or histories along with reviewer comments. Please review all notes before proceeding.

Get an Account

College faculty and staff do not need to request an account. They may enter their College network account username and password - the same used to login to any campus computer. All others must request an account using the form below. Usernames and passwords will generally be emailed to you within a few business days. Please note that students must have their faculty research advisors validate their RIC network account by logging into the system at least once prior to the request. If you receive a message stating that "You do not have permission to view this page", please hit the Refresh button in your browser to gain access.

CHPR Account Creation Request Form

The CHPR Account Request Form is used by students and community members to request account creation and access to the protocol management system.

Request a Review

Once you have received a username and password, please proceed to the management system by clicking the link below.

CHPR Management System

The RIC CHPR Protocol Management System is the centralized location for all research protocol submissions and reviews.

Complete a new submission for review by clicking 'Create New Request for Review'. You must complete all mandatory (red) fields and mark the form as complete at the end of the form in order to successfully submit your protocol. If you cannot complete the form in one sitting or wish to return to the form at a later time, clicking 'Submit' with a form that is not ready will save it for your return. Submitted forms are locked for editing unless specifically returned by the Committee.

You may add attachments after protocol submission or after saving the protocol. Unless requesting exemption, documents typically expected consist of an informed consent document (click here to see the official CHPR model) and any research plans or recruiting materials you may have.

Reviews

Any notable status changes to your protocol will be emailed to you throughout Committee review. Some email may serve as official notice of further action required for clarification, modification or conditional approval. Please provide these modifications or additions to the system as soon as you are able per Committee instruction. Throughout the process, you may also view internal Committee comments on your protocol by clicking each protocol and scrolling below the main form.

Approvals

All Committee approvals (except exemption) are for one year in accordance with Federal regulations. At the end of your research or at the end of the approval year, the Committee requests you submit a continuing review form through the system to summarize your findings. A continuation approval is also required to continue research beyond the one year approval date, and you must submit a continuing review request in advance to prevent a possible break of continuous research. All of this information is made available in the emails sent you during the submission process. For any further questions on using the system, please contact us.
