Purchasing Computers
In the case of computer purchases, Rhode Island College has a campus agreement with
Dell Computers and
Apple Computers. This means that desktops, laptops and Pocket PCs must be purchased through either vendor, depending on your preference of a Mac or Windows-based PC. Servers or large, mainframe PC purchases should be coordinated with User Support Services and Network & Telecommunications on-campus.
Buying from Dell
Proceed to the
Dell Higher Education Homepage. Search for and select the PC you would like to purchase by pressing "Customize It". (You may seek the aid of User Support Services in determining an appropriate PC for your needs.) Select the options you would like, and at the bottom of the Customize page press "Save As E-Quote". List your email address and name the e-quote accordingly. You will be taken to an e-quote confirmation page.
Please print this page. In ten minutes you should also receive an e-quote confirmation email. Print the email if you wish, but ensure that one or both of the e-quote confirmations is attached to the corresponding purchase requisition. The requisition should be filled out like any other requisition but with the e-quote number written down or typed.
