The Writers' Workshop at the University of
Illinois is a very helpful place to visit.


Trinity College's Writing Resource Center


Purdue University's OWL (online writing lab)
is a resource center for writing, ESL help,
and PowerPoint.


I think the American Heritage Dictionary
of the English Language is the best
general dictionary available.


Here's help for dealing with those pesky
acronyms, and knowing what they mean.


Roget's Thesaurus is a wonderful aide
to a writer. Here's a search form for it.

Bob Drudge has created one of the most
exhaustive databases of resources on the
internet. Play with it, it's remarkable.


The Librarian's Index to the Internet is another
excellent attempt to make sense of the enormous,
and growing, amount of information on the internet.


The Columbia Encyclopedia is
one of the best one volume
encyclopedias around.


Mapquest is about the best for maps
of cities, and for driving directions.


The New York Public Library's
digital collection is a wonderful
resource.

The Japan Information Network is one
of the best comprehensive sites.


Hiroshima's A-Bomb Museum should be
a must for any student.


This is JIN's 'Trends' page--up-to-date
information in many categories. And you can
get on an email list to receive your own updates.


Japan Echo is a bi-monthly journal of commentary
on a variety of topical issues in Japan


The Mainichi Shimbun, one of Japan's largest daily
newspapers, publishes an English language on-line
version. So do the Yomiuri and Asahi papers.


In my Japan section, there's a page of links to a
variety of cultural, women's, kids, and general sites.
