There are lots of photos,

and they sometimes take

a long time to appear . . .

So I've divided them into sections,

and they're all interconnected.

These characters mean Hiroshima. The time I spent there, and at nearby Miyajima, was crammed with wonderful and widely varied experiences.

These characters mean Junko. She took me to see the house where Bashoo, the famous haiku poet, was born. These photos are from there and also from Kyoto, Nara, Ise, and Chizu.

These characters mean Kenji, my friend from Shikoku, the smallest of the four main islands. These photos are of the various places that he and his wonderful friends took me, and of them too.

These characters mean Nagano, in the Japanese Alps. I visited the city and several other places in the prefecture, such as the hot springs at Kusatsu and the black castle at Matsumoto.

These characters mean Nagasaki. I went to the Peace Park there, the site where Puccini's Madama Butterfly was inspired, and an island in the harbor where I nearly stepped on a deadly viper.

These characters mean Takahashi, my friend Keiko's family name. She and they took me to many places--Hachioji to the west of Tokyo, and Kurikoma, Morioka, Sendai, Ichinoseki, and Matsushima in the Northern Tohoku area.

These characters mean Tokyo. I spent many days exploring this huge city, as well as neighboring Kawasaki where I stayed with the Takahashi's and had an apartment. I also visited nearby towns--Kamakura, Fujisawa, Hakone, and Kokubunji.

I hope you enjoy

looking at them

as much as I

enjoyed being there.
