What We Do

We conduct intensive summer institutes for teachers. These carry graduate credit from Rhode Island College. teachers describe them as life-altering. Ninety-five percent of last year's participants said the summer institute was much superior to any other kind of professional development they had experienced before.

The Summer Invitational Institute 4 weeks/ 6 credits
Planning for Change 2 weeks/ 3 credits
The Literature Institute 2 weeks/ 3 credits
Reading and Writing In Content Areas 2 weeks/ 3 credits

We run programs on the campus during the school year for continuity experiences.

  • On-Site Embedded Professional Development

We collaborate with the Rhode Island Department of Education to support teachers in their efforts to implement effective literacy practices in the classroom in support of the State's literacy standards, the GLEs and GSEs.

We organize programs in the schools to assist teachers in literacy instruction at all levels.

We conduct Young Writers' Institutes for students in grades 1-10.
