Grant Evaluation
Dr. Jane Ewing, of the Sherlock Center staff, is the RISIG Project Evaluator. The general focus
of project evaluation will be to measure the quality and quantity of RISIG's programming effect.
Long- and short-term outcomes will be assessed in various ways, including participant interviews,
document review, and quantitative data analysis. In addition, staff members of the target schools
will participate in data collection, to help them understand how to use data in decision-making
and program development.
Evaluation activities for each major RISIG component will examine the achievement of the goals outlined
for that component. For example, regarding Goal 2, Component 3 - Indicators of Change in Topical Area Core
Content, the Project Evaluator will determine, at the end of each year of the cycle, whether or not core
curriculum for professional development has affected change in target schools. Evidence may include:
changes in instructional methodology, improved accommodations and curricular modifications, and increased
instructional support for diverse learners.
