The Sherlock Center, through Rhode Island College and in coordination with
TechACCESS of RI (Rhode Island's non-profit ATA Assistive Technology
Center & ATAP Information Center), has developed and offered
professional development coursework in assistive technology since 1994
(see listing of available courses). Collaboratively designed and developed
instruction in assistive technology is an on-going priority and initiative
at the Sherlock Center.
RI Statewide Assistive Technology Conference:
The Sherlock Center co-sponsors the annual Assistive Technology Conference, in
collaboration with the Assistive Technology Access Partnership, the RI
Office of Rehabilitation Services, the RI Dept. of Education, the RI Dept.
of Health, and TechACCESS of RI. The RI Assistive Technology Conference
was first held in 1988, and each year offers workshops, exhibits, and
discussion sessions on assistive technology for school, work, home, and
community involvement. The conference is designed as a forum for
professionals, families, and individuals with disabilities of all ages.

Crowne Plaza Hotel, Warwick RI - TechACCESS of RI is hosting the 18th annual assistive
technology conference. The Exhibit Hall is open all day, providing
opportunities to try the newest devices and to speak with knowledgeable vendors.
