EnVision Work

Eligibility | Application Process | Contact Us

EnVision is a pilot initiative of the Paul V. Sherlock Center on Disabilities in partnership with RIDHS/ORS-Services for the Blind and Visually Impaired. The purpose of EnVision Work is to increase employment of individuals with visual impairment. Participants will increase their understanding of proven employment strategies, increase their knowledge of resources, and develop an expanded network on individuals to help meet their goals.

The initiative will:
  • Engage youth and young adults (age 16 - 24) and families through person centered employment planning sessions.
  • Identify employment challenges and barriers and develop strategies to overcome them.
  • Develop an employment plan addressing short term and future opportunities.
  • Offer an online curriculum enhanced by face to face forums to explore interests, careers and develop employment awareness while networking with a group of peers with similar goals.
  • Enhance career development through supported community based work exploration and experiences.
This is anticipated to be a 2 year experience. The second year will include extended internships and/or paid employment reinforced through the online curriculum and family forums. Participants will receive a Certificate of Completion along with an employment plan and a personal portfolio reflecting the work completed.
Funding for this pilot is provided by the RI Foundation.
