Undergraduate Special Education Programs offered in Rhode Island
Established in 1854, Rhode Island College is now the state's principal urban public institution of higher learning. RIC offers 3 nationally recognized undergraduate programs in special education:
Elementary Special Education (Grades K-8): Mild/Moderate Disabilities
Secondary Special Education (Grades 6-12): Mild/Moderate Disabilities
Special Education of Students with Severe/Profound Disabilities, Ages 3-21
A Dominican institution of higher education founded in 1917 by the Bishop of the Diocese of
Providence. PC offers an Elementary/Special Education Program.
A Catholic college of the arts and sciences established in 1934 and located in Newport.
Salve Regina offers an Elementary/Special Education Program.
Established by the General Assembly in 1960, CCRI offers general education courses thet may transfer into other
colleges in RI. CCRI also offers a Teacher Assistant Certification Program and an Associate Degree in Special Education
designed for Teacher Assistants and related service personnel.
