DirectCourse: Online Courses for Support Staff

In an effort to better support providers in the state of Rhode Island, the Paul V. Sherlock Center on Disabilities is proud to offer online training courses through DirectCourse. Through a partnership with Elsevier, the Sherlock Center provides access to licensed course content from the College of Direct Support and the College of Employment Services.

Why DirectCourse?

The training opportunities offered through DirectCourse and the College of Employment Services and the College of Direct Supports are intended to increase the options available both for attaining ACRE certification and for increasing professional development opportunities for direct support professionals. These opportunities are funded through the Conversion Institute and the Rhode Island Division of Developmental Disabilities. These opportunities are available to staff from Rhode Island agencies that support individuals with developmental disabilities and staff supporting individuals and families who self-direct.

What is DirectCourse?

DirectCourse is an online staff-training resources for your agency built on the latest research. It provides accessible, self-paced training for agency staff and staff of self-directed individuals. Through the Sherlock Center's partnership with Elsevier, agencies have access to free and low-cost training courses to improve staff knowledge and skills, increasing employee readiness, job satisfaction, and staff retention. With DirectCourse, learners can access training 24 hours a day and complete courses at their own pace.
