Images inspire thought and reflection and can be a wonderful motivator for learning content. Below you will find a variety of websites with images that can be viewed over an LCD projector, from an overhead, or on a computer. Website should always be previewed by teachers prior to student use!

More than 10 million digitized historical artifacts are available on the Library of Congress' web site ranging from ancient manuscripts to Civil War maps, from classic blues recordings to Coca-Cola commercials, from Dust Bowl photographs to Thomas Edison's first films. These unique primary sources are the raw materials of history, and bring students into close personal contact with the people, places, and events of our nation's past. K-12 classroom teachers are provided with tools to bring these collections to life on the Library's Teachers page at http://www.loc.gov/teachers.

National Geography Photography Since 1888, National Geographic has traveled the Earth, sharing it's amazing stories with each new generation. This website contains amazing photography from National Geographic's expeditions and scientific fieldwork, encourages geography education for students, promotes natural and cultural conservation, and inspires audiences through new media, vibrant exhibitions, and live events.

Google Earth Google Earth lets you fly anywhere on Earth to view satellite imagery, maps, terrain, 3D buildings, from galaxies in outer space to the canyons of the ocean. You can explore rich geographical content, save your toured places, and share with others.

Google Maps is a tool for finding and mapping out businesses, addresses, and places of interest.

Picturing Modern America: Historical Thinking Exercises for Middle and High School This site contains amazing pictures from 1880 to 1920. Practice doing history the way the historians do.

American History Image Archives Public Domain and Photographic Images. You will have to book mark (depending on your content) your favorite site from this link, but it will be worth it.

Space Astronomy Images Space Astronomy Images gateways to astronomy, astrophysics, solar systems, and deep space & exploration.

Garden Picture Library This website will allow you to search on categories such as garden details, garden reportage, graphics, flower catalogue, outdoor living, plants, practical gardening, and still life.

National Atlas This is an atlas that gathers and presents information designed to help us understand continental-scale environmental issues has been released by the Commission for Environmental Cooperation (CEC). The North American Environmental Atlas is intended for use by both environmental scientists and the citizens of the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Its maps and services are designed to help the public visualize environmental topics at a continental scale.

National Library of Australia Pictures This catalogue contains descriptions of paintings, drawings, prints, photographs, and three-dimensional objects held in the Pictures Collection of the National Library of Australia. The emphasis is on Australian material, with some material relating to New Zealand, Antarctica, Papua New Guinea, and the Pacific. The main time period covered is late eighteenth century to the present day. The Collection includes thousands of portraits of significant Australians.

NASA Photo Gallery The National Space Science Data Center (NSSDC) provides multidiscipline data and information services, including a large digital data archive from past NASA space science missions along with directories, catalogs, and access to widely distributed science data resources. The NSSDC is responsible for the long term archiving and preservation of all space science data. This federation is responsible for providing a coherent and coordinated OSS-wide data environment to improve quality, accessibility, and usability of NASA's space data holdings for scientists, educators, and the general public.
