Description: The unit consists of five lessons: one for each component (memory, feeling, hope/wish and decision) and a culminating writing activity. Lesson 1 (on memory) is presented here.
Lesson 1: The students will be able to state that using a memory in a story ending helps to make it better. The students will be able to recall a memory and record it by drawing a picture depicting their memory and writing or dictating 2 -4 sentences. Components require some mental processing, such as beginning to connect ideas using a simple organizational structure. Students engage in first draft writing, and begin to connect ideas using a simple organizational structure.
