Gerontology Conference

The RIC Gerontology Center and Sherlock Center on Disabilities sponsored a conference on "Technology and Aging" on Wednesday, April 23, from 9 a.m. to noon in the Faculty Center's South Dining Room. The conference examined the use of assistive technology with older adults. Topics included hearing assistive technology for people with hearing loss, adaptive tecnology suited for individuals with blindness and low vision, the onset of age-related disability and simple solution to improve access in a domestic setting and the use of internet for the deliver of senior services. The program, supported by the College Lectures Committee, was open to the public free of charge and offered continuing education credit.

Spring Party

The Sociology/Justice Studies Club and the AGES student club for gerontology sponsored a party for Sociology, Justice Studies and Gerontology students on April 25, 2007. The party honored the Whitman Award winner in Sociology, the Mary Ann Hawkes Award winner in Justice Studies, the Harold Sweet Award winner in Gerontology, the AKD (Sociology Honor Society) inductees, and students successfully completing Honors projects.
