John O'del
Academic Background
Dr. O’del is a faculty member of the Department of Management and Marketing and coordinates the International Management Concentration within the General Management degree program. Dr. O’del conducts courses in international business as well as courses in small business and entrepreneurship. He also conducts courses on strategic management and general management. He has taught at the Jagiellonian University in Poland and at the Riga Business School of the Riga Technical University in Latvia. His interests include international/small business in economic development and the relation between innovation and business development. He also examines the relationship between the creative sector and entrepreneurship. Dr. O’del is a member of the Board of United States Association for Small Business and Entrepreneurship (USASBE – the US affiliate of the International Council for Small Business -ICSB), the Vice President of the Entrepreneurship in the Arts Division of USASBE and the Vice President (Elect) of the International Entrepreneurship Division of USASBE.
Dr. O’del is also Director of the Study Abroad Program of Rhode Island College. In this capacity he works with students and faculty considering incorporating a period studying abroad within their Rhode Island College experience. This effort to add an international dimension to the RIC experience complements his efforts in the classroom/on the campus and professional efforts beyond the College.
