The Comprehensive Examination is offered twice a year, usually the first Saturday in December and the first Saturday in April. M.Ed. candidates will be notified in writing by the Department each Fall and Spring of the specific exam date. Successful completion of the comprehensive assessment is required of all students in Special Education M.Ed. programs.
Candidates who have either completed their Plan of Study or are enrolled in their last Special Education course are eligible to take the examination. To register for your Comprehensive Examination, call the Department Secretary at (401) 456-8024.
An overview of the comprehensive examination requirements may be provided through a seminar conducted by each M.Ed. Program Coordinator several weeks before the Comprehensive Examination. Students are encouraged to contact the Special Education Department Secretary for the seminar date.
