Free Period

Every Wednesday from 12:30pm - 2:00pm is Free Period, a time-slot during which classes are not scheduled so that students can get involved on campus. Many student clubs and organizations meet and many campus-wide events occur during this time.

Clubs and Organizations

The most obvious way to get involved is to join a student club or organization! It can be a great way to plan events, meet people with similar interests, and even enhance your resume. There are more than 40 groups to choose from:

  • media groups
  • cultural awareness groups
  • groups associated with academic majors and community service

If there is not already one that interests you, why don't you start a new one? For an updated list of current organizations, please visit the Student Organizations page.

Campus Activities Day and Student Organization Showcase

Campus Activities Day is a student organization recruiting fair scheduled every year in September on the second Wednesday of classes from 12:30pm - 2:00pm (Free Period) in the Quad (or in the Student Union Ballroom in the event of rain).

2008 Campus Activities Day will be held on Wednesday, September 17th, 12:30pm-2pm on the Quad (rain location: Student Union Ballroom).

This festival-style fair features at least 40 exhibit tables of active clubs and organizations anxious to tell students about their offerings and recruit new members. Also present are other college and student-related tables with information and giveaways. If you're looking to check out the scene, this is an event you don't want to miss.

A similar event, Student Organization Showcase, is scheduled every February for transfer students and to the benefit of established organizations to network and showcase their accomplishments and offerings.
