Eligibility Requirements

The Scholarship Program

Student Support Services awards $500 to the maximum Pell Grant awarded to the student and may be used to pay on student loans, tuition, room and board fees, on books, and other academic expenses. In addition, this scholarship will not reduce any other student aid the recipient presently receives.

Requirements

  • Applicants must be a participant of the Student Support Services Program.
  • Applicants must be in their first two years of postsecondary education in a four-year degree program.
  • Applicants must be currently receiving Federal Pell Grants.
  • Applicants who have completed their first two years of postsecondary education may also be eligible for this scholarship if they are at high risk of dropping out and the needs of eligible first- and second-year students have been met.

Scholarship recipients are asked to make a difference in a freshman’s life

Student Support Services asks that scholarship recipients serve for one academic year as a mentor to a freshman student. Mentoring allows the student to take part in the age-old ancestral tradition of paving the way for someone else. The primary objective of the mentor is to provide freshmen with the skills needed to achieve a successful future.

"This is a unique opportunity for SSS participants in that funds are administered directly out of our office. Allow these funds to work for you. And be a part of another freshman’s success through mentorship."
