Setting Up Email On Your Smartphone

Your Office 365 username is your full email address

Accessing Your Email

Students can access their RIC email by logging into their Office 365 account using their their full email address for the username and network password using the following link.

For example, the username for student, David Brown, with a student ID number of 0121234 would be

NOTE: Please note that if you go through MyRIC to access your email, you will need to enter your full email address for the username and your network password again.

IMPORTANT: If you experience trouble in logging into your email or run into an issues, please go to one of the walk-in labs (Horace Mann Tech Center or Whipple 102) or contact the Help Desk at 401-456-8803 or

Once you access your Office 365 account, you can then click on the Inbox link to go to your email.

Setting Up Email On Your Smartphone

Exchange Server

  • Most phones today support Exchange ActiveSync, which allows the syncing of e-mail, contacts, etc. from the
  • Live@RIC/Office365 accounts.
  • In most cases, the student only needs to put in their username/e-mail ( and password, but it may ask for additional info. If it says optional, leave it blank, it usually fills it in on its own.

  1. Go to the Applications Menu>Email (or "Mail" on some versions).
  2. Type full e-mail address ( and password.
  3. Select "Exchange" account (may be called "Exchange ActiveSync" on some versions).
  4. Enter the following and select "Next":
    1. Domain\Username: Type your full email address in this box. If Domain and Username are separate text boxes in your version of Android, leave the Domain box empty and type your full email address in the Username box. 
      • On some versions of Android, you must use the "domain\username" format. For example, if your email address is, type\ Your username is your full email address.    
  5. Password: Password

Windows Phone

  1. Select Apps> Settings> Email + Accounts.
    1. Select Add an Account> Outlook
    2. Enter email and password and then "Sign in".
    3. If a message appears saying "Check your information and try again. You may have mistyped your password.", double check the info (you don't need to specify username and domain).
    4. If a message appears saying "We couldn�t find your settings", select "Advanced" and enter the following:
      1. E-mail address: Full e-mail address
      2. Password: Password
      3. Username: Full e-mail address
      4. Domain:
      5. Server:
    5. Select the "Server requires encrypted (SSL)" box.
    6. Select "Sign In"

Apple iOS

  1. Go to Settings> Mail, Contacts, Calendars> Add account
  2. Select "Microsoft Exchange"
  3. Fill in the E-mail, Username, and Password boxes with the appropriate info (full e-mail address in both E-mail and Username boxes)
  4. Hit "Next". If the program finds the info, skip the next step.
  5. If the program does not find the info, put "" for the server name.
  6. Hit "Save".
