Q: Where is the Veterans Resource Center located?
A: On the East Campus, Building #5, Lower Level.
Q: Will my military credits be counted towards a degree?
A: You need to provide the Admissions Office with a copy of your military transcript. They will post the amount of credit recommended by the American Council on Education. It is ultimately up to your department advisor to grant any credit towards your major.
Q: How will my GI Bill affect other financial aid?
A: Because the Post-9/11 GI Bill lowers your financial need, it will probably make you ineligible for other types of financial aid.
Q: Does the GI Bill pay RIC directly for my tuition and fees?
A: If you qualify for benefits under Chapter 30, Chapter 1606 or Chapter 1607, a monthly benefits check is deposited directly into your personal bank account. If you qualify for Chapter 35 benefits, the check is issued directly to you. Either way, it is your responsibility to ensure payment is received by the RIC Cashier's Office by the tuition payment or deferment deadline. Eligible individuals will also receive a monthly stipend and book stipend. Visit http://gibill.va.gov/CH33Estimator/ to check how much current monthly pay is.
Q: When do I get my money?
A: Students are not certified with the VA until after the add/drop period is over; this will ensure the amount of payment is correct. Payments are retroactive; you will receive pay each month for the preceding month.
