The Italy Program

Location

The Program is located in the historic center of Florence. It is housed in a magnificent XVII century building, the elegant Palazzo Testa, on one of the most beautiful streets of the city, Via Martelli. The windows of this building offer an amazing close-up of the cathedral and the majestic Palazzo Medici-Riccardi.

Classes / Instructors

The RIC Program in Florence offers students a wonderful and unique place with spacious and comfortable classrooms, a well stocked library, an audio-video laboratory and an auditorium equipped with a movie screen. Classes have a maximum of 6 - 7 students carefully placed according to language ability. All the faculty members are graduates of the University of Florence, and they are all trained and experienced professionals in the field of language and culture teaching.

Housing

In order to completely immerse students in the Italian language and culture, the program provides housing with carefully selected families. The accommodations are checked periodically to ensure that everything is in order.

Students receive 4 credits at the appropriate level for the 4 week program.

Excursions

Different optional cultural and recreational activities included in the course fee are scheduled every day. Students will visit major cities such as Rome, Venice, Siena, Perugia, and also the Chianti Vineyards, the Medici Villas, Florentine museums, monuments, artisan and goldsmith workshops.

Costs

Program

The cost of tuition for the four-week program in Florence is to be determined.

Housing

The cost varies depending on the accommodations: family stay (highly recommended), shared or individual apartment, and pensione. The package may also include meals.

A member of the RIC Modern Languages Department will accompany the group. Air fare is not included. It is highly recommended that reservations be made by February in order to secure an economic fare as the price doubles in May. The program coordinator will aid with flight arrangements so that those who wish can travel together.
