How can I use my personal PC or Mac laptop with a SMART Board?

We have e-classrooms that currently have a mounted SMART Board. Please visit http://www.ric.edu/toolbox/building_information/levels/eclassrom_lab_information.htm to find out which e-classrooms and teaching labs that have a mounted SMART Board.

If you want to use your personal PC or Mac laptop with the SMART Board in either a e-classroom or teaching lab, you must do the following steps:

  • Step 1 – Go to http://smarttech.com/Home+Page/Support/Browse+Support/Download+Software and then below SMART Product Drivers click the down arrow to the right of “Choose a version” and then either select 11.4 for Windows or 11.4 for Mac. (IMPORTANT: Once you have installed the software if you are asked to update the software, please cancel out the message. If you upgrade the software to the newest version, then you will then be asked to purchase the software. Version 11.4 is free.)
  • Step 2 – Once the software has been installed, plug the SMART Board USB cable into your laptop’s USB port.
