Welcome

The M.F.A. Program in Theatre Performance and Society is a new, unique, and open learning environment. It provides rigorous training for the professional theatre that emphasizes the collaborative creation of the performance event and focuses on the fine braiding of performance theory and practice .

The M.F.A. Program in Theatre Performance and Society is built upon the idea that Theatre, as a profound living art, is one of the most powerful, interdisciplinary and creative arts which stands as a pillar at the center of any human society.

The M.F.A. Program in Theatre Performance and Society is a rigorous intellectual and professional environment designed to prepare talented and imaginative theatre artists who will not only master their art - acting, directing, or playwriting – but who will also develop their own high artistic vision and become socially conscious and engaged artists. That is, the program will prepare them to become theatre artists who understand and appreciate the role theatre can play in civic dialogue, cultural exchange, and social change.
