In order to abide by The Policy for Responsible Computing at Rhode Island College, approved by the Council of Rhode Island College, and the software auditing requirements of the Rhode Island Board of Governors for Higher Educations, software purchases made by the college are tracked by User Support Services. The process enables User Support Services to function as a clearinghouse for campus software purchases. The Purchasing Office works closely with User Support Services to review all college software purchases in an effort to avoid duplication of resources, ensure the proper registration of college-owned software, and protect the intellectual property rights of the copyright holders.
Software acquired through institutional licensing such as the Microsoft Campus Agreement is provided and installed by the Information Services Helpdesk. Faculty and staff are encouraged to direct their questions about software installation and licensing to the Helpdesk at Ext. 8803.
