Academic software is defined as any software used for traditional classroom instruction and education, all electronic classroom instruction and education, all academic and student computing facilities and for all College sanctioned research directly supporting instruction and education. This is relevant only to software that will be installed in USS supported labs and all electronic classrooms. These Labs are: Horace Mann Technology Center, Whipple 102 and 104, Gaige 163, 165, and 168, Alger 101 and 102, Fogarty Life Science 103a, and Horace Mann 182. Decisions regarding types and quantity of academic software are the prerogative of the College academic community, beginning with the individual faculty, through Department Chairs, Deans, the director of User Support Services, the Vice President of Academic Affairs, and the President.
The requests with the appropriate signatures should be forwarded to User Support Services who will consolidate all requests for the Vice President of Academic Affairs. The Vice President of Academic Affairs will prioritize academic software requests for acquisition.
Please Note: Beginning in Summer Session II, 2009, all Windows-based software installed in Windows labs and e-classroom computers must be MS-Vista compatible. Please be certain that all software, including freeware and shareware, requested for Windows-based academic labs and electronic classrooms is MS Vista compatible.
