Student Purchases

In order to access any of the sites below, you must use Microsoft Internet Explorer as the browser. You will need your RIC network username and password. When the dialog box appears, enter your username and password in the appropriate fields. You must enter ric-acad in the domain field. If the domain field does not appear in the dialog box, you must precede your username with ric-acad\ (ex: ric-acad\jdoe_1234). Your username is constructed by taking the first letter of your first name followed by your last name, followed by an underscore "_" and the last four digits of your student ID - click here for more information.

Recommended Computer Configuration for Resident Students:

In order to properly integrate with the Rhode Island College campus network, the College recommends the following minimum requirements:

Standard Windows Computer (Vista-Ready)

• Processor speed 1.66 GHz or above
• Minimum of 2 GB RAM
• A 10/100/1000 network interface card
• Laptops -Wireless b/g/n networking support
• Hard drive with a minimum capacity of 120 GB
• Windows XP SP3 or Vista (Enterprise, Business or Ultimate)*
• CD/DVD +/- RW Drive*
• Microsoft Office 2007
• Optional but recommended - video card (minimum of 128 MB)
• 3 year manufacturer’s warranty

*	Purchase any version of Windows Vista and purchase an MS Campus Agreement upgrade disk at the Campus Store for the cost of the media.  Purchase MS Office 2007 for cost of media at the Campus Store.  Details at www.ric.edu/software

Standard Apple Computer

• Processor Core 2 Duo 2 GHz (or higher)
• Minimum of 2 GB RAM (4 GB preferred)
• A 100/1000 network interface card
• Laptops -Wireless b/g/n networking support
• Hard drive with a minimum capacity of 120G
• Mac OS X
• CD/DVD +/- RW Drive*
• Microsoft Office 2008
• 3 year manufacturer’s warranty

Decisions between a desktop or a laptop system is personal preference; either type will work on the campus network, provided it meets or exceeds the above-mentioned requirements.
