Problems opening a document in WebCT

If you get a blank screen when trying open a document in WebCT (you click on a link and it does not work), and you have a newer version of IE with SP2 it might be that the browser is blocking access to that file. Follow the steps below to resolve your issue.

For this example we are trying to open a  PowerPoint file.

1. Look at the top of your screen for the security warning pointed out in the screenshot below:

2. If the security warning is present, proceed to click there and a drop down box will appear.

Select Download File with your mouse.

3. Next, a Dialog box will appear allowing you to Open or Save the PowerPoint file.
     Go to the step 4 if you selected Open.
     If you selected Save, a Browse window will appear allowing you to choose the desired location      for the file.
     Click on Save when finished choosing.

4. After having selected Open, the document will appear in your WebCT browser window. You may proceed to view the PowerPoint presentation.

If these dialogue boxes do not appear go back to the main page and try clicking on the links again it should work this time.
