Youth ensembles to take the stage at RIC Nov. 24By Matthew Boyden-Wilson, Staff Writer
Grade-school students are set to take the stage at Rhode Island College in a collaborative concert featuring the Rhode Island Philharmonic Youth Wind Ensembles (RIPYWE) and the Junior Providence Singers. The performance is on Tuesday, Nov. 24, at 7 p.m. in the Nazarian Center’s Sapinsley Hall. ![]() Robert Franzblau, conductor of the RIC Wind Ensemble, said the concert would be “a great outreach opportunity” allowing the Wind Ensemble to perform for an audience that might not otherwise attend the concert. “If the students and parents involved with the Rhode Island Philharmonic Youth ensembles begin to think of Rhode Island College as a good place to continue studying music beyond high school, so much the better,” Franzblau added. ![]() The Junior Providence Singers (JPS) is a choral training and performance program for high school singers from southern New England. Like the RIPYWE, students are chosen by audition. General admission for the concert is $10. For more information about upcoming performing and fine arts events at RIC go to www.ric.edu/pfa.
