Certificate Program in Youth Services
The Certificate of Undergraduate Study (CUS) in Youth Services includes a series of content courses designed to link theory and practice in working with youth in out of school settings.
Program features
- Course design includes theory and its relevance to work;
- Cohort model: students enter and complete course as a group, providing each other with peer support and creating a community that learns independently and interdependently;
- Hybrid learning: courses meet both face-to-face and online in a 50-50 split, allowing students flexible learning time;
- Opportunity to continue learning with all credits applying to RIC's Youth Development BA program, offered through the Feinstein School of Education.
Target population: Candidates for the program would be individuals currently working in Youth settings or Outside School Time (OST) settings.

Admission requirements: Candidates must have achieved a high school diploma or GED and have completed an Introduction to Psychology course with a grade of C or better.

Scheduling information: Cohorts begin in the summer with PSYC 230. Participants take SWRK 324 in the fall followed by SWRK 326 in the spring. The cohort takes its final course, CEP 315, in the second summer. The program blends the theory in the first three courses with a Work Experience Seminar to build strong links to practice.
Tuition and fees: Students in the CUS in Youth Services Program will receive a Group-Level Scholarship, thereby reducing total program costs for tuition and fees by 15%.
