A Program Preparing You for Employment

The Bookkeeping and Accounting Certificate of Continuing Study (CCS) teaches manual and computerized (Quickbooks and Excel) accounting and bookkeeping functions, giving you confidence in the preparations and maintenance of:

  • ledgers
  • journals
  • adjusting closing entries
  • basic financial statements
  • cash and banking procedures
  • payroll
  • accounts payable and receivable

Beyond necessary bookkeeping and accounting skills, we get you ready to apply for jobs with:

  • Training in business writing and communication skills, using Microsoft Office
  • NorthStar computer literacy certification
  • Work readiness skills including: business etiquette, cover letters, resumes, job search techniques, interviews, job placement and reference assistance
  • Individual job coaching
  • Case management support

Program Schedule

This program consists of 220 hours of classroom training and a 120 hour minimum internship.

Initial Classes 3 Days per Week

  • April 23–July 18 (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday) from 9 am–2:30 pm

Please Note: No class on June 19 or July 4, with July 3 class asynchronous.

Ongoing Classes and Internship

  • July 23–August 27 (class continues once per week on Tuesdays)
  • a minimum 120 hour internship

Eligibility

Are you motivated to learn new skills and secure employment? This program may be perfect for you, as long as you're 18 years or older, have a high school diploma or equivalent, and can provide a RI BCI Background Check.

In-Person Class Location

You'll be joining us at the Woonsocket Education Center: 115 Main Street, Woonsocket, RI 02895.
