Message from the Dean
United by our professional values and principles, we deliver a rigorous academic program and graduate superior social workers who collectively work to enhance the human experience.
Our alumni say that Rhode Island College's School of Social Work is a special place where faculty are really invested in your learning. Indeed faculty create a supportive environment – a safe haven – for students. Professionally, they are experts in a wide range of areas, including but not limited to child and family welfare, community organizing, ethics, housing and homelessness, older adults, policy and advocacy, research and evaluation, substance use, telehealth and trauma-informed care. Their depth of knowledge and experience combined with their sincere commitment to approach students as colleagues enable the School of Social Work to maintain its reputation for graduating highly employable and passionate social workers.
We also offer research opportunities through grant-funded projects that address systemic inequities. This work not only impacts our curriculum but the entire social work practice.
To our current students, we ask that you do not hesitate to contact your advisor, professors, your chair or myself. Your ideas matter and your presence is valued.
