Message from the Dean

Now more than ever our country needs highly skilled, compassionate health-care providers who can meet the demands of today’s challenging world.

Teaching is at the center of the mission of the college and the Zvart Onanian School of Nursing. Our nursing faculty are extraordinary professional nurse educators who teach both in the classroom and in clinical facilities. We partner with all major health-care organizations in the state to offer the best clinical education possible. Our strong relationships with our colleagues facilitate learning experiences for our students and allow them the opportunity to apply what they are learning throughout their program.
We enhance learning with creative teaching and state-of-the-art technology. Simulated clinical learning helps our students foster critical-thinking skills and develop technical skills. In the basic baccalaureate program, computerized testing is used to promote academic achievement and prepare them for the R.N. licensure exam.
Nurses are the frontline and backbone of health-care delivery throughout the world, and it is no different now during the COVID-19 pandemic. We are making a difference not only in COVID-19 care, but in all areas of critical care.
These are not easy times for anyone, especially nurses. But I can say, without a doubt, that I am prouder than ever to be one of them.
Carolynn Masters, Ph.D., R.N.
Dean, Zvart Onanian School of Nursing
