Talk by Jhonni Carr & Román Luján (UC Berkeley)

In recent years, linguistic discrimination—along with racial discrimination—has lead to increased attacks on individuals who speak a language other than English in public. These discriminatory events are often filmed and shared on social media where they become viral. In this talk, professors  Jhonni Carr and Román Lujan will discuss the concept of “language solidarity” and present concrete strategies that both multilingual speakers and linguistic allies can implement on a daily basis to foster language equity and raise awareness about linguistic discrimination.
