Eric Blanchard ’12 Named Assistant to the Athletic Director
Providence, R.I.–Rhode Island College has named Eric Blanchard assistant to the athletic director. Blanchard graduated from RIC in 2012 with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and a concentration in mathematics.
Blanchard will work closely with Director of Athletics Don Tencher, who also serves as assistant vice president for administration and finance, in support of all day-to-day activities across the department.
“I’m excited to continue working with Mr. Tencher and the rest of the Rhode Island College athletic department,” Blanchard said. “It’s an honor for me to contribute to the success of my alma mater.”
“We’re always proud anytime we can employ a former student-athlete and dedicated student worker like Eric,” Tencher said. “He is a solid addition to the athletic department and will be a key contributor in our future endeavors.”
A former Rhode Island College standout on the baseball diamond, Blanchard closed out his four-year career with the Anchormen after having appeared in 45 games, starting four of them. The Warwick native was 7-4 with one save, a 5.51 ERA and 59 strikeouts in 80 innings of work. Blanchard ranks fifth all-time in program history with 41 career relief appearances.
