For over forty years Rhode Island College has been committed to providing comprehensive academic support services to its undergraduate and graduate students. Advising is crucial to student success, and it is one of the centerpieces of the work in OASIS since a balance of appropriate courses is the key to academic achievement. Through a series of interrelated programs, the Office of Academic Support and Information Services (OASIS) has provided an ever expanding population with the aid necessary to promote the timely progress in course work in a student's major field of study. By combining the efforts of the Academic Advising and Information Center, the Academic Development Center, Tutorial Services, the Mathematics Learning and Writing Centers, and New Students Programs into one comprehensive unit, we have attempted to serve diverse student needs.
From orientation to graduation, OASIS is involved with every facet of the student experience at the College. The professional staff in OASIS is involved with learning skills enhancement, test taking preparation, and content specific tutoring in subjects that mirror the various course and major offerings of the College to ensure that every student, regardless of background, culture, or learning ability and/or disability, has the potential for excellence in education.
