RIC Art Department

For over 50 years, the Art Department has maintained high standards in a competitive yet supportive community for student learning, with programs that prepare students for careers as artists, designers and educators. Our art professors are historians, art educators, artists and designers who have extensive professional experience in their respective areas of study. Faculty are committed to fostering critical engagement as students explore their creative potential for art making, visual problem solving, and research in the arts. RIC's Art Department is a dynamic environment for learning.
Rhode Island College’s Fine Art Center, ALEX AND ANI Hall, was renovated and expanded to a 52,600-square-foot facility. The interior includes state-of-the-art studio classrooms, art gallery, presentation areas and gathering spaces for students and visitors.

Rhode Island College Art Galleries
Rhode Island College features the work of students and hosts exhibitions of contemporary art by local, regional and international artists in two galleries. The Bannister Gallery hosts approximately eight to ten rotating exhibitions each year and the Chazan Family Gallery features the work of students and recent graduates of local, regional and national programs in all mediums. The art department faculty members act as curators for the exhibition programs, with each educator introducing projects relating to their own area of interest and expertise.
