What We Offer

The Department of History offers a bachelor's degree, two minor programs, and a certificate of undergraduate study.

History BA and Minor Click to learn who this is for

The History BA introduces students to the historical discipline through methods and content classes, the latter spanning Antiquity to the Present and encompassing all regions of the globe. A History Minor is also available as a program of study.

Who is this for?

The History BA serves a variety of students, their interests and career goals, from those simply curious to learn about the past and its complexities to those interested in politics, journalism, law and other careers that demand organized research and analysis. The History Minor allows history enthusiasts to pursue their interest while complimenting their major degree program.

Public History C.U.S. and Minor Click to learn who this is for

The Certificate in Public History allows students to connect their love of history with the study of historic sites, historic homes and various museums to develop skills to pursue careers in teaching history through historic places. A Public History Minor is also available as a program of study.

Who is this for?

The C.U.S. caters to students planning to work in museums, historical sites, interpretive centers and/or pursue careers with the National Park Service. Like the History Minor, the Public History Minor is a program option for those with an interest in history who are already committed to a major program.

Interested in Teaching History?

The Department of Educational Studies and Undergraduate Programs offers a Secondary Education B.A., with a concentration in history.
