Living on Campus

Penfield Hall
More than just a convenience, living on campus is an important part of social and academic growth.

Better Academically

Research has shown that students who live on campus do better academically due to easy access to campus academic support resources.

Better Socially

In addition, living in close proximity to other students who are taking the same classes helps to develop social networks where it is easy to collaborate and organize study groups.

A Support System

Understanding that college often provides the first experience for students to live away from home, our staff is trained to help make that transition as easy as possible for you.

A Place to Belong

RIC is welcoming! From its green pathways dotted with sculptures and meeting spots to its ready-to-help faculty and staff, you'll quickly come to see RIC as home. With easy access to downtown Providence, Rhode Island's Creative Capital, the campus itself is nestled in the residential Providence neighborhood of Mount Pleasant. Safe and inviting, RIC is just the right size to easily navigate and find your place.

If you happen to be a local, and choose to commute to RIC, the campus is easily accessible via highway from multiple directions. We offer many amenities for commuter students and work hard to ensure they are vital contributors to our community.
