Music Programs

Music Auditions
Auditions are required for all music majors at Rhode Island College. To qualify for acceptance as a music major, you must be admitted to Rhode Island College (follow the general admission procedure described on the Office of Admissions website) and successfully complete an audition. You DO NOT need to be admitted to audition, but we recommend that you have your admissions application at least completed by your audition date.
A quality education
The quality of music education at Rhode Island College is second to none. For our students, the study of music takes place on stage as well as in the classroom. Weekly student recitals provide them with many opportunities to perform and they have the opportunity to join several large ensembles, including our active orchestra, chorus and wind ensemble.
Our music graduates go on to sing with the Metropolitan Opera, teach at some of the best public and private school music programs in the region, earn graduate degrees from the nation's top music schools, write music for major orchestras and Hollywood studios, appear as soloists on national television, conduct regional orchestras nationwide and teach at nationally renowned music schools. Our programs are fully accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music and the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education.
