Rhode Island College offers a variety of scholarships to students with an interest in English, creative writing, literature, modern languages, global studies and/or philosophy.

Amy Thompson Memorial ScholarshipApplicants must demonstrate an interest in children's literature.
Barbara Schapiro Endowed ScholarshipApplicants must be enrolled as graduate students majoring in English with a minimum overall GPA of 3.0.
C. Owen Ethier Endowed ScholarshipApplicants must be enrolled as full-time undergraduate juniors or seniors majoring in history. Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 2.5 and qualify for financial need. Preference will be given to a first-generation college student.
Cathryn Annette Ducey ScholarshipApplicants must be enrolled as undergraduate sophomores, juniors or seniors majoring in English. Applicants must qualify for financial need and demonstrate strong academic achievement.
Daniel M. Scott III ScholarshipApplicants must be enrolled as undergraduate juniors majoring in English, with the highest GPA at the end of the sixth semester.
Donald F. Lyons ScholarshipApplicants must be enrolled as undergraduate juniors or seniors majoring in English. The basis of this scholarship is merit. Applicants must be planning a career in teaching.
Dr. John J. Salesses ScholarshipApplicants must be enrolled as undergraduate full-time juniors or seniors majoring in British or American literature. Applicants must have a minimum GPA in the major of 3.0.
George Giacomo Cairo ScholarshipApplicants must be enrolled as undergraduate full-time or part-time majors in history, modern language, English, writing or music. The minimum undergraduate class year required is second-semester sophomore. Applicants must qualify for financial need.
John A. and Mary V. Lima Scholarship in Portuguese StudiesApplicants must major or minor in modern languages, with a concentration in Portuguese, and qualify as deserving students.
Lema-Fernandes Portuguese Study Abroad ScholarshipApplicants must be planning studies and internships abroad in Portuguese-speaking countries.
Leonelli Family Memorial Endowed ScholarshipApplicants must be enrolled as full-time modern languages majors and qualify for financial need. Preference will be given to a student concentrating in the Italian language.
Mary F. Luzzi ScholarshipApplicants must be film/media studies or film/media production majors. Applicants must also be graduates of or transfer students from the Community College of Rhode Island, Rhode Island residents and qualify for financial need.
Maryellen Hoye Memorial FundApplicants must be a disabled undergraduate majoring in political science or sociology with a minimum overall GPA of 3.0. Applicants must qualify for financial need.
Michael A. Valerio '80 Memorial ScholarshipApplicants must be enrolled full-time as undergraduates majoring in communications. Applicants must also have completed 12 Rhode Island College credit hours in the major and qualify for financial need. Preference will be given to a student concentrating in mass media.
Miya D. Brophy-Baermann Scholarship "Miya's Voice"Applicants must be pursuing undergraduate or graduate degrees in the field of Communicative Disorders (Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology)
Nancy Sullivan Endowed ScholarshipApplicants must be majoring in English or the humanities and qualify for financial need.
Tess Hoffmann Film Studies ScholarshipApplicants must be film studies majors who have met course requirements and are academically qualified.
The English Faculty Writing AwardThere are a minimum of two $250 awards. Applicants must be enrolled as undergraduate sophomores, juniors or seniors majoring in English. Applicants must also submit portfolios of critical and creative writing and be the winner of the annual competition.
The Harrower Endowed ScholarshipApplicants must be newly enrolled students majoring in English.
